As Ghost Orchid entered it's sixth year of business, we were also able to celebrate being specially selected to be just one of the few stores to feature in The Lane's UK and European Bridal Boutique Guide. "When we saw these campaign images Hull based bridal boutique, Ghost Orchid shot, we let out a squeal of excitement! We caught up with boutique owner, Katey on what her inspiration was behind the shoot and what each designer represents to her.

Ghost Orchid: "The aim of this editorial is to be a stripped back, fuss-free perspective on bridal that the women who come to us can relate to. Letting the dresses do the talking has always been my angle. We appeal to a modern bride who quite simply comes to us for an outfit that’s more fashion focussed and current. At Ghost Orchid we aren’t about the traditional cliches that can feel a little uncomfortable, therefore I wanted this editorial to be totally clear of fluffy ideals of what love is meant to look like and instead be an undone and powerful source of bridal fashion inspiration.

We wanted the feel of the shoot to hint towards themes of female strength and magic yet keeping it simple and free from platitudes was at the forefront of my mind. All we really needed was a smoking hot, commanding, goddess of a model, a bold fashion photographer, an insanely talented make-up artist and some killer outfits. Throw in a bit of atmospheric light for those glowy, moody hues and the vision easily came to life.

What I loved about this shoot is we began in bright sunshine, perfect for our custom beaded Chosen by One Day “Muse” gown and as it progressed to the the shimmering bell sleeved Margo gown by Chantel Lauren, which has undeniable enchantress vibes, the sky opened and we experienced an immense electrical thunderstorm. It couldn’t have been more perfect and the atmosphere was amazing. I hope you can get a sense of this through the images". WE DO!"

Chantel Lauren is our Utah based designer, with roots firmly in the the country music scene, this charming wife and husband duo create gowns that breath fresh air into the bohemian bridal scene. Plus...these guys are just delightful to follow on instagram. Arty, alternative and adorable are words that come to mind when I think Chantel Lauren.

Guess who's back, back again? Ghost Orchid to reopen 17th June

It's been such a strange few months we have all shared recently and I know it's been difficult for so many of you.

I want to thank you for your continued interest, patience and support.

I have been super excited to be making this announcement and it feels so great to finally say that as of 17th June Ghost Orchid will be reopening for appointments.

Here at Ghost Orchid we are all about having a fun, laid-back experience and this is going to stay the same. However, we are having to make some little changes to ensure we can keep you safe.

COVID 19 Safety Guidance

Our brides can bring two guests for first appointments and one guest to alteration fittings, meaning there will only ever be four people in the store at one time.

While in the store, unless it is to fit the dress, everyone who is not from the same household must remain 2 meters away from one another.

If you or a member of your party are displaying symptoms of Covid 19 or have knowingly been in contact with someone who has been displaying symptoms, that person must not attend the appointment. If you need to rearrange your appointment please get in touch at the soonest possible time.

No one from the "At Risk" group should attend your appointment.

Hand sanitizer is to be used upon entry and exit of the store.

Gloves and masks will be provided by Ghost Orchid and worn by all in store. The bride may remove these at times when she would like to see the complete look of a wedding dress. The seamstress may remove her gloves when fitting the dress.

We have reduced the amount of appointments we take in a day so that there is time in between each appointment so the store, and in particular the changing rooms, can be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. Any dresses that have been tried on will be steam cleaned in between customers.

Our toilets will be available for customers to use and will be cleaned in between appointments. Paper towels will be available to dry hands instead of towels. Antibacterial wipes will be made available and you will be expected to wipe down surfaces after use.

We will be opening Wednesday through to Saturday, unless you have a previously booked appointment.

Unfortunately we will not be able to provide our usual fizz and refreshments but please feel free to bring your own drinks or bottle of fizz. If bringing your own drinks you must also bring your own glassware too. Empty bottles and glassware are to be taken away with you at the end of the appointment.

It’s a strange old time for us all and despite the unusual circumstances, we are going to do everything we can to ensure you still have a fun and special experience at Ghost Orchid.

What is a sample sale?

This means you can buy one of our designer sample gowns at a fraction of the price.
Sample sales are great when you have expensive taste (you know who you are, girls) but you really don't want to stretch your budget or if you need a dress more quickly and just don't have time to wait for lengthy lead times.

Our sample sale dresses have been tried on in store which is why they are discounted by up to 70%. Some gowns may need reparing and / or dry cleaning and this will be reflected in the price. Like all wedding gowns, it is more than likely you will need some alterations to get the perfect fit and we have a brilliant in-house seamstress who can help you with this. All dresses can be altered to be at least three dress sizes smaller.

Only one of each style is available and will be sold on a first come, first served basis.

This collection pays homage to few leading ladies in country music of days gone by, as well as some current acts. Now don’t get us wrong, you’ll hear more than country music in the studio and we don’t quite live on a farm. However, there is something extremely fascinating about life on the road, city after city, playing music for people all over the world. We find ourselves a little bit obsessed with that life at the end of the day. The opportunity to create this line and style it after musicians we enjoy will ultimately have to do for us. Bridal trunk shows are designer events we host in our boutique where we have gowns we don't ordinarily stock in store to try and order for a limited time. These are rare opportunities for brides to sample way more gowns at one fitting than they ever would normally get chance to.

These events are by private appointment only and just like a regular bridal consultation. Often our trunk shows are opportunities to order gowns from a newly released collection or a designer that's not otherwise available in the UK. Don't forget to look out for the free gifts and discounts that are available at most of our trunk shows.

TRUNK SHOWS are designer events which we host in our boutique, where brides will have access to way more dresses from a particular designer than they normally ever would. Trunk Shows are by private appointment only and just like a regular bridal consultation for you and your guests. At these events we often have a designers full collection or latest collection in store and you can sometimes enjoy a special discount or free gift.
